Yes—unfortunately, meth contamination is more common in Utah than many people realize. Utah consistently ranks among the top 10 states for methamphetamine use (CDC, DEA, NSDUH). According to both the DEA and Utah Department of Health, meth use has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. While most contamination comes from smoking rather than meth labs, the residue left behind can still pose serious health and property risks if not properly addressed.

It depends on the test result levels and your specific needs, but generally, it takes about 2 weeks from start to finish. First, we start by submitting a work plan to the health department for a permit. The health department typically takes 2-3 business days to issue the permit from the day we submit. Once we enter the home, it takes about 1 week to complete the decontamination itself and do clearance testing. After we get those test results back, we will send you and the health department a final report. The health department takes an additional 2-3 business days to release the property.
